Enjoy the ride

...Based on Vienna’s Prater, we have imagined a “Belle Époque”amusement Park called Liebesland where couples go through the roller coaster of married Life. It is our wish throughout the evening to bring the audiences through 3 different attractions which are all pretty, fun, romantic and entertaining at the beginning but may become hellish at the end, for some !

The Wiener Riesenrad ( the Prater Ferris wheel) is where we set Act 1. Conventional, traditional bourgeois couples live in “identical looking residences prescribed by their social class”. Appearances are considered most important and everything is done to give the impression of happiness and bliss !

Also, for some, this “married life bliss” generates the need to seek something new, different and in their mind so exciting and out of the box.The Act 2 ride : “Prinz Orlofsky’s Chacun à son goût Ball” brings together carnival freaks who mix up with entertainers and couples in need of excitement and sexual experimentations.

Since nothing is ever simple in operetta and filled with consequences, the 3rd act traditional jail is now a ghost train ride representing the worst nightmares for married men and women : nasty children in great numbers, infidelity, divorces, alimony and Lawyers…

And off course a happy ending because ‘‘Married Life is like a roller coaster. You can either scream every time there is a bump or you can throw your hands up and enjoy the ride.
